I have been involved with these pictures and the many machines and devices which make them since I was 15 years old (I'm 71 now). I urge you to resist the temptation to make your machine more elaborate. Simplicity is the key. A harmonograph machine merely allows you to record and capture motion born out of something infinitely greater. These are universal rhythms and patterns which occur everywhere in nature all the time.
